The Real World

Ten years after its first visit to the Big Easy, MTV's groundbreaking reality show The Real World is heading back to New Orleans for its 24th season (yes, 24th!).

Living in a gorgeous Southern-style uptown home (1633 Dufossat Street - the house is 9,860 square feet and include 7 bedrooms, 8 bathrooms and pool), the roommates' journey won't be all parades and fun: a Mississippi party girl is haunted by abuse from a past boyfriend, a hockey player is determined to stay sober after an addiction to painkillers and a bitter rivalry between two roommates reaches a crisis point and threatens the entire house. Other members of the diverse group include an ex-basketball star, a State Department staffer from D.C., a Florida beach beauty and a Lebanese girl who leaves her tight-knit family for the first time.

Also - this is the first Real World house, at least in recent memory if not ever, that did not include a decoration from IKEA.

The cast reportedly engages in nightly out-on-the-town activities, but we know mischief and mayhem are always staples in this long-running MTV series. Already, there's that whole my-housemate-scrubbed-the-toilet-with-my-toothbrush debacle.

The eight cast members, who the eight don't only get to experience Mardi Gras in The Big Easy but also the Saints' Super Bowl victory, are as follows:

Ashlee Feldman, 23 from Collingswood, New Jersey
Eric Patrick, 24 from Northern Virginia
Jemmye Carroll, 22 from Aberdeen Mississippi
McKenzie Coburn, 21 from Jupiter Florida
Preston- Roberson-Charles, 22 from Bay City, Michigan
Ryan Knight, 23 from Kenosha, Wisconsin
Ryan Leslie, 21 from Gilbert, Arizona
Sahar Dika, 21 from Dearborn Heights, Michigan

But seriously . . . this show is such a letdown. The characters are downright unwatchable outside of Ashlee, Knight, and occasionally MacKenzie.  Are Sahar & Eric even on the show anymore?  Every time Ryan comes on screen I have to fastforward. And no, they didn't even come remotely close to doing Mardi Gras justice. I was only watching because it was set in New Orleans.  Maybe the most annoying/disappointing thing about the show is the fact that they keep going out on Bourbon Street every single night.  Enough!  They're not tourists anymore - go where the locals go!!!
