2010 Hurricane Season just starting to HEAT up

Forecasters are unanimous in their assessment of the 2010 hurricane season: It is likely to be a dangerously active storm season, on par with 2005, the worst hurricane season on record.

This was an interesting article!

Why are some seasons harsher than others? While El Niño tends to inhibit hurricane formation, La Niña–a cool pattern in the Southern Pacific–does just the opposite. While La Niña is not extant, it could emerge soon.

Did you know . . . Hurricane Alex, in the Gulf of Mexico, June 30, 2010, was the first in 15 years to be both the first named storm and the first hurricane of the season.

Hurricane Facts : The most vulnerable area of the home is the roof.
"It simply isn't true, the most vulnerable part is the garage door." If wind enters through the garage door, a window or any other opening, however, the roof is at risk: The rush of air could blow it off, with your stuff following close behind. Kits are available to protect garage doors.
