November 1st - The “Day of the Dead,” a traditional Mexican celebration similar to All-Saints Day in the U.S., was commemorated with a series of special events at the Old U.S. Mint today. The occasion was celebrated with authentic Mexican and Mexican Indian arts, music, food, and family fun. All events were free and open to the public. Today was also the 3rd Annual Family Fiesta, featuring a Mariachi band, folkloric dancing, a taqueria truck and family-friendly fun. It was all staged in the outdoor courtyard on the Barracks Street side, facing the French Market from 2-4 p.m and I went to volunteer for the Hermann-Grima House making crafts with the children.
