Disturbing!

A minimum of 210,000 gallons (update: now around 2 million barrels) of oil per day is gushing into the sea.
Now on DAY30 of the spill (or as many New Orleanians are calling it - oil geyser), 6,300,000 gallons (at least) has been released so far
Sadly, today was the day everyone has been dreading - oil has made it into the marshy wetlands.
It's just so disturbing!

Where can I get one of these?

The child part of my brain says "Awesome!" while the adult part of my brain says "You know you'd try to ride it drunk, fall off, and crash through the window."
But . . . it'd be worth it!

面白い

FUN Japanese Candy (面白い = (omo)(shiro)(i) = omoshiroi = Interesting)
The Kit Kats you find in American stores offer a quick fix of chocolate and crispy wafers. But in Japan, Kit Kats go far beyond chocolate, with flavors like ginger ale, soy sauce, creme brulee and banana - just to name a FEW.
I remember sending home TONS of these, but want to listen to NPR try a few?
Why all the (limited 200 unusual) Flavors???
Well they say b/c . . . with over 40,000 convenience stores fighting for customers, they market these odd flavors to win sales and shelf space!
Plus, its fun to see what odd flavors might come out next!

Ponchatoula Strawberry Fest

It's Festival Season in Louisiana and the big Strawberry Fest starts them off . . .
For over 30 years, the Ponchatoula Strawberry Festival has provided a venue as the largest fundraiser for non-profit and charitable organizations. The festival prides itself as being one of the only festivals in which non-profit organizations are the only vendors on the official festival grounds. We ate some fair food and rode some carnival rides!
Ponchatoula calls itself the "Strawberry Capital of the World".
I went again with Jackie and her son, Christopher. You can see our visit last year here!
